Green Sherpa Shows the Grow On The Go Approach
The automated ‘Home Drip Irrigation’ system is a revolutionary approach to a self watering, no weeding, and no feeding system; how it works, why it works and why you must use it. This is NOT hydroponics, no specialized equipment needed.
This approach is unique as it combines bags of potting soil and an automated drip irrigation kit. You do not need to empty the bags of potting soil as the plants grow directly from these bags through punctured holes in the plastic containment liner with the potting soil bags being irrigated using my drip irrigation kit. These unopened bags of potting soil can be easily hidden in troughs, covered with mulch, stones or whatever blends in with your landscape. One other unintended result of growing vegetables or plants this way was the prolific produce created from each of the plants, I estimated a 50 to100% increase per plant and the fruits and flowers were disease free with no chemical additions. This really helps you offset any costs and escape the dreaded $64 tomato syndrome! Additionally if you have an outlet where you can sell your excess vegetables you might be able to completely offset the costs of the system and get all the benefits, a ‘win-win’ I’d say!
For those of you that are environmentally conscious the potting soil bags and drip irrigation system can all be recycled. At the end of the season the potting soil bags are emptied onto my yard or garden and all the plastic components are recycled. Additionally the drip kit can be used across multiple years meaning next year’s costs are only the potting soil bags.
But what you will really like about this system is that it uses very little water, (less than half a gallon per day per potting soil bag) there is no wastage because you can’t over water or under water your plants, by forgetting to turn the hose off or on. The plants get exactly what they need when they need it, by simple plant irrigation timing and duration.
